Miss G’s
Brand

Creativeminds were approached to assist in the rebranding/branding of a company called G-stars. Due to legal issues with G Star Raw the dance company had to change their name. This also coupled with the addition of a new dance school in Tiptree Miss G the principal and owner decided a new approach was needed.

Initial concepts of naming was for ‘Studio G’ although a good name, with further research there was a company already called this.

Following this our designers decided to research a huge range of names, stemming from the ethos of Miss G and the current school lifestyle. After a few days of contemplation, the name Miss G’s emerged and a simple, direct approach to the dance studio, where the essence and energy of Miss G would be instilled into the bones of the company.

Once the name was confirmed, the focus turned to typography.

As part of our process we want to capture the physical movement into the type and placement. After a study into different ways the text could be show. A calligraphy based typeface was chosen. The idea that Calligraphy is the written form of dance. Each movement is choreographed and rehearsed. A Change in movement can change the final piece.

Development of Colour

Part of the brief, the colours couldn’t be similar to the original ‘G-Stars’ logo, these were very vibrant.

We then created a colour study. For Miss G to choose. We started with Pantone colours that converted to CMKY well.

Use of an Icon

As part of the new Miss G’s brand. To create a dynamic identifier and to reaffirm the us of the motion in the brand and to differentiate each style of dance multiple Icons were suggested. These icons would be long exposure photography of specific dance moves.

Creativeminds wanted to use these as an key identifier within social media too. More and more we are discovering that a logo placed on social media doesn’t always work. These icons bridge that gap.

Website

Creation of the website was difficult as there were no images to use and little data apart from the previous website.

As Creativeminds have been able to build a brand, we have been able to create a flow of the website that considers the addition of photography later down the line.

A key element was to include the new location of the dance school in Tiptree and to include a feed from the Instagram social media page. This allowed for some imagery.

This is a continual build and will be adding more pages later in the year.
