Star Trust Annual Ball 2018

Another year has passed and we once again had the job of creating a new style for the Star Trust Annual Ball brochure. Each year we discuss with the committee different ideas of how the brochure should be dressed and if there are any other elements that need to be included.
In 2018 it was agreed that the night should be a Masquerade Ball and we wanted to be able to reflect this in the design of the brochure, whilst also making sure there was a difference between this year and the past year’s designs.
Our initial study was into the Masquerade styles and fashion. From here we did some initial sketches then created a Star Trust based mask. We used a purple gradient with only black and white to simplify the cover. Throughout the brochure there was a process black background with white text. Each year we change the Font Family of the header and body copy. This year we used Soria to the header and Proxima Nova Condensed for the body copy; this was chosen due to the diverse typeface weights within the Font Family.
Since filming the previous 3 Star Trust events; the Annual Ball 2017, Sparkles and Supercars, Motoring Tour 2018, we once again invited back to film the 2018 Annual Ball at Stapleford Park. Using the running order and our experience of how last year’s event ran, we were able to precisely plan exactly what we would need to be filming and where we would need to be at what times.

Similarly to last year, we wanted to ensure that we were capturing the day in it’s entirety. This meant starting with the activities that were taking place in the day, which were road driving of the latest cars from Bentley and Lamborghini, clay pigeon shooting and hair/makeup/beauty treatments.
As part of our filming of the daytime activities, we had the opportunity to film from inside the Lamborghini Urus whilst it was being driven, which was effective for promoting the Lamborghini product. This was an important aspect of the video as Bentley and Lamborghini were the main sponsors of the event. In addition to this we got lots of footage of all of the cars provided by the main sponsors, including drone footage of the cars being driven out of Stapleford by the guests and interviewed a representative from Bentley/Lamborghini.
Last year the lighting for the Pre-Ball Drinks Reception was too low for us to be able film, however this year we were able to fully capture this part of the night. This enabled us to promote another of the Star Trust’s advertisers in the video, Aviation Gin.
As we moved from main building to the Ball Room, we chose to keep one stationary camera that focussed on the stage for the entire night and was also linked to the event production company’s soundboard in order to ensure we were able to clearly capture all the audio from the people on stage. As well as this, we had stabilised gimbal video camera that we were able to walk around with and get panning and tracking shots of the room and a HD video camera that we were able to move around and set up in various places to ensure we captured the room from plenty of angles.
A key difference between this year’s Star Trust Ball and last year’s Star Trust Ball was the acts that would be performing during the main event. Therefore, we made sure to focus on getting plenty of footage of this.
