Using YouTube within a Business

Creating and posting video content on YouTube is a great way to boost the visibility and credibility of your business.

The reach and power of YouTube has been demonstrated by the many artists, celebrities and comedians who have begun their careers through the site. With its billions of active users, YouTube allows your company the chance to easily reach a large audience.

YouTube is a visually orientated site and would require your company to have engaging visual content to share. It has the potential to work effectively for any company, regardless of their industry.

Once you have created a channel, it is important that you customise it. By using your logo, colour palette, tone and slogans, you can reinforce your brand identity, encouraging viewers to associate the channel and videos with your business.

The YouTube accounts that generate the largest amount of popularity and engagements, are channels that post content regularly. If you want to use YouTube as a part of your social media marketing strategy, it is important that you have lots of video content to share.

Some ways to produce video content for your business are:

  • Webcast and webinars that can be broken up and posted as a series of video
  • Repurposing infographics into explainer videos
  • Creating tutorials or product demonstrations
  • Video creating a corporate profile or sharing the history of the company
  • Interviewing owners, staff and customers.

Once you have uploaded a video, it is important that you use the right category and tags. There are 15 categories to choose from and dozens of relevant tags that you can use. It is best to use the tags that are suggested by YouTube as they are based on what people commonly search for.

Unlike other social media sites, YouTube requires a lot more time, commitment, planning and, potentially, money, in order to create visual content that will appeal to your audience. As video production is a service we are looking to introduce at Creativeminds, this is something that we could assist with, as well as managing your social media accounts.
